Lois Lowry has written many books before her novel series The Giver.

This book was published in 1993, about 18 years ago, and people everywhere and can still relate to what she is writing about. She does not write about what happened during her time, but something that happens on this inside of us, feelings and emotions. Things that we can relate to for as long as we do have feelings.
